In the Global Classroom project, Hellstern Middle School is working with a STEM classroom in Italy that wants to make the classroom more student led. In this session, facilitator Nicole Pena from Hellstern Middle School will discuss the ups and downs of this process.

Working with community partnerships is a component of any EAST project. Join Brian Kutsch (Little Rock Zoo), Susie Marks (Arkansas Nurses Association), Robbie Davis (Museum on Main Street with the Smithsonian Institute), and Sydney Thatcher (Museum on Main Street with the Smithsonian Institute) community experts who are actively working with EAST students, for their insights on what makes a successful community partnership.

In the fall of 2018, Coding Takes Flight was created with a goal of working with 200 young female students on basic coding concepts utilizing drone technology. The program has now successfully worked with over 1100 Springdale students and is striving to become a sustainable mentoring opportunity for our female students. This session will focus on the importance of EMPOWERING through mentoring.
